Taika Waititi MNZM is an internationally acclaimed filmmaker, actor, writer, and director known for his distinctive voice, humour, and ability to blend Māori storytelling with universal themes. His films, including Boy, Hunt for the Wilderpeople, Jojo Rabbit (Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay), and Thor: Ragnarok, have earned critical acclaim and global recognition.
Waititi co-founded Whenua Films, supporting Māori storytelling and indigenous voices, and continues to champion Māori culture through his work both in front of and behind the camera. His contributions to film and the arts have been recognised with numerous awards, including an Academy Award, BAFTA, and multiple New Zealand Screen Awards.
He is celebrated for his creativity, cultural advocacy, and the international impact of his storytelling, which elevates Māori perspectives on the world stage.
