Rex Homan is a Māori woodcarver and sculptor of Māori, Irish, and Scottish descent. For over five decades he has crafted stylised wooden sculpture, especially of bird, drawing on Māori storytelling, natural forms, and his rich cultural heritage.
Homan’s work has been exhibited internationally and he has won recognition in Aotearoa, including the Te Waka Toi Supreme Award for excellence and leadership in Māori art. His pieces are held in public and private collections and reflect a lifelong commitment to honouring the spirit of taonga and the natural world.
