Rachel House ONZM is one of Aotearoa’s leading actors, directors, and theatre-makers. She is celebrated internationally for her film roles in Whale Rider, Hunt for the Wilderpeople, Boy, Moana, and Thor: Ragnarok, as well as for her acclaimed stage performances and voice work.
As a director, she has worked with leading theatre companies in New Zealand and abroad, and she has championed Māori and Pacific storytelling on stage and screen. In 2016, she received the New Zealand Arts Laureate Award, and in 2017 was appointed an Officer of the New Zealand Order of Merit for her services to theatre and film.
Rachel House is recognised for her artistry, her mentorship of emerging talent, and her enduring commitment to bringing indigenous stories to global audiences.
