Jim Moriarty MNZM (Ngāti Toa, Ngāti Koata, Ngāti Kahungunu) is a renowned Māori actor, director, and theatre practitioner whose work spans stage, screen, and community. He has performed widely in theatre, film, and television, including landmark works such as Once Were Warriors, The Piano, and Close to Home.

As artistic director of Te Rakau Hua o Te Wao Tapu, he has pioneered community-based theatre for over 30 years, working with rangatahi, prisoners, and whānau to tell stories of resilience, identity, and healing through the arts.

Recognised as a Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit for his services to theatre, Jim Moriarty is a leader whose mahi continues to inspire and empower communities across Aotearoa.
