My name is Chey Teruki, and I am a raranga weaver from Ngāti Maniapoto. My mahi toi comes from my whakapapa and the teachings that have been shared with me by my mentors, kuia and koroua from Ngāti Kahungunu.
In 2020, I made the decision to follow my heart and step fully into raranga. I started attending learning spaces where knowledge was shared, and that’s where my journey really began.
My mahi is personal to me. Every piece I create reflects who I am, where I come from, and what I’ve been taught.
